Born in 1884 in a small town in Ohio, Jenkins began drawing at a young age. He showed an early talent for capturing the essence of his subjects with a few simple lines. After studying at the Art Institute of Chicago, Jenkins moved to New York City in 1905, where he quickly established himself as one of the most sought-after illustrators in the country.

Jenkins's illustrations were known for their elegance, wit, and attention to detail. He often worked in pen and ink, and his drawings were characterized by their clean lines and subtle shading. Jenkins was also a master of caricature, and his portraits of celebrities and politicians were both humorous and insightful.

Over the course of his career, Jenkins illustrated more than 5,000 books, magazines, and advertisements. He worked for some of the most prestigious publications of the day, including The Saturday Evening Post, Harper's Magazine, and Vanity Fair. Jenkins also illustrated a number of classic works of literature, including The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain.

In addition to his work as an illustrator, Jenkins was also a successful painter and muralist. He taught at the Art Students League in New York City for many years, and his work can be found in museums and galleries around the world.

Jenkins died in 1965 at the age of 80. He left behind a legacy of stunning artwork that continues to inspire and delight art lovers and history buffs alike.
